European Movement in the Republic of Macedonia (EMRM) in collaboration with the Municipality of Kavadarci organized a panel Discussion titled "European Integration in the Perspective of the Vardar Region with a special focus on the Minucipality of Kavadarci", November 12th2019, in the Municipality of Kavadarci.
The panel discussion was attended by 20 participants, representatives of local CSO’s and local self-government in Kavadarci. The participants had an opportunity to take part in a discussion on the topics of European integration, the reforms ahead of the negotiation chapters following the start of accession negotiations, and the role of civil society and local authorities in the reform process.
After the discussions about the role of civil society and local authorities, the panellists and the participants talked also about the role of the citizens in the process of EU integration and the importance for the citizens to be informed.
The conclusions of this panel discussion is that the role of the civil society sector and its cooperation with the local self-government are crucial in the process of European integration. The integration process requires significant engagement of CSO’s, as well as other stakeholders who have the knowledge, the skills and the desire to work and to improve the society.
